School Run Minibus Driver Required

SCHOOL RUN MINIBUS DRIVER REQUIRED.

PERMANENT PART TIME POSITION.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a small, friendly team as School Minibus Driver working for Lilbourne Parish Council. The role is to operate our Village Minibus on the contracted day pupil route between Lilbourne and Yelvertoft. A job share would be considered.

The successful candidate(s) will be reliable, approachable and honest. They will able to work on their own initiative and communicate effectively and appropriately with primary school children, parents and school employees. They must recognise the importance of the bus contract, so that it remains on schedule and provides excellent service to our client, and they will work well as part of the team responsible for delivering this contract.

The hours of work are approximately 13 hours per week during the school term: Monday to Friday 08.05 – 09.05 am and 15.05 – 16.05 pm. As well as driving the minibus and completing all pre-drive checks and paperwork, the driver will have various other duties which may include refuelling, internal/external cleaning, vehicle handover to volunteer drivers for service runs and taking the vehicle to the garage for MoT/ maintenance.

The driver(s) must have held a UK driving licence for over three years. It should have no more than six points and have Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) entitlement, Category D1 for minibuses with between 9 & 16 passenger seats. They must be prepared to complete and pass MiDAS assessment, and have proven experience of driving (ideally in a professional capacity.) Sound knowledge of traffic legislation is essential and local knowledge of the area would be desirable. Experience of working with primary school age children is not essential but would be desirable.

This job will be subject to the safeguarding of the welfare of children, and all applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service. Proof of the driver being able to work in the UK is required.

Training and support will be provided and candidates will be expected to complete a probationary period. No uniform is provided; drivers will be expected to dress appropriately. At present face-masks are required.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent – job share considered.
Hours: 13 / week (term time only 38 weeks)
Salary: £15 / hour (£195 per term time week)
Holiday: 4 weeks paid (Must be taken in school holidays)
Uniform not provided: appropriate casual dress.
